Despite never being heavily campaigned due to my business commitments Shannas Midnight Shadow, ‘Kayleigh’, was Runner Up Top Gordon Setter 1994 – beaten only by the breed Challenge Certificate record holder, Sh Ch Liric High Society. Kayleigh achieved six CCs and lived in perfect health until her demise at 14 years of age.
She produced one litter, which was sired by Sh Ch Wickenberry Philosopher at Liric. From that came Shannas Family Affair and Shannas Family Fortune.
Her litter sister, Midnight Breeze (BVA KC Hip score 6/4) had one litter before going to live with friends, where she stayed until she died at 11 years old. Her litter was also sired by Sh Ch Wickenberry Philosopher at Liric and produced Multi Ch Shannas Journalist and Ir Sh Ch Shannas Editor to Ladysdale.
Interestingly, both of the above litters individually won the Gordon Setter Association trophy for the litter with the best average hip score, despite the above average score of the sire.
